Description: 3 hour Weekend Workshop. Come make a pair of custom geometric earrings with instructor Elizabeth Thompson at FluxWork Studio. In this class we will select each students individual design and focus on using the jewelers saw, files, polishing and blackening methods to complete a finished set of earrings. This class will provide a basic overview of silversmithing technique as you create beautiful pieces of handmade jewelry. Perfect for beginners or for the intermediate student looking to brush up on core hand tools and learn a few production tips and tricks along the way.
* Students will have the option to gold plate their finished pieces for an additional cost.
No experience necessary - students will have access to basic studio hand tools, and all materials are included with the class.
Class Size: Limited to 4 people and spaces are sold on a first come, first serve basis.
Instructor Bio: Elizabeth Thompson of Elizabeth Knight Jewelry has a collection of work that is hand cut, hammered and etched for an unearthed quality. A Philadelphia native, who received her BFA from Savannah College of Art and Design in 2005 majored in jewelry with an emphasis on the craft of silver-smithing. The collection has gathered attention from fashion press including Vogue, Vogue Italia, Vogue Japan, Marie Clare, Lucky, Paper, Foam, Bullet, I-d and Nylon. Although deeply rooted in Brooklyn, Elizabeth Knight Jewelry is carried in boutiques in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.
